The quick answer
Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) collagen stimulator with gradual results. Radiesse contains calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) and can provide immediate volume as well as collagen stimulation; dilution changes its intended role. Neither is an HA filler with the same hyaluronidase-dissolving option.
At a glance
| Detail | Sculptra | Radiesse |
|---|---|---|
| Material | Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) | Calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) in a gel carrier |
| Result timing | Develops gradually over a treatment course | Can provide immediate support; later tissue response develops over time |
| Protocol distinction | Ask about vials, reconstitution and sessions | Ask about original product volume, dilution and sessions |
| HA-dissolving option | Not an HA filler | Not an HA filler |
| Price comparison | Complete proposed course | Complete proposed course and dilution |
Different ways of creating a visible change
Sculptra's manufacturer describes a gradual collagen response over a series of treatments. Early fullness from injection is not a reliable preview of the final result. Ask when the clinician will assess the response before planning further treatment.
Radiesse can be used for immediate volume and support. Diluted or hyperdiluted treatment is a different proposal from concentrated structural placement. Ask what the dilution is intended to achieve and whether that use is within local labeling.
Which is better for your goal?
Our editorial take: a gradual plan may suit someone comfortable waiting through a treatment course; a request for immediate structural change requires a different discussion. Neither description establishes that either product is appropriate for your anatomy.
For lips or an under-eye concern, do not assume that a collagen-stimulating injectable is a substitute for a specifically selected HA gel. Ask the doctor about the intended area, alternatives and the option of no injection.
One vial versus one syringe is not a fair price comparison
For Sculptra, record the number of vials per visit and anticipated visits. For Radiesse, record the original product volume before any diluent, the dilution and the number of sessions. Added saline is not extra original filler.
Compare the total proposed course, reviews and follow-up arrangements. A general Sculptra or filler benchmark is not a matched Radiesse quote. This page supplies no verified Seoul price difference between the two.
Risks and the limits of dissolving
Swelling, bruising and lumps can occur. Accidental injection into a blood vessel can cause tissue damage, blindness or stroke. Sudden unusual pain, skin color changes or vision symptoms require immediate medical attention.
HA filler may be treated with hyaluronidase when a clinician considers it appropriate, but removal is not a guaranteed reset. Sculptra and Radiesse do not have the same HA-dissolving option. Discuss complication management before treatment.
What to confirm at a Korean clinic
The product examples and prescribing information cited here are US references. They do not establish Korean approval, local availability or an approved use in Korea. Ask the treating doctor to confirm the exact locally supplied product and whether the proposed treatment is within its Korean labeling.
Get the product name, quantity, area, VAT, consultation and follow-up terms in writing. A menu category such as ‘imported filler’ or ‘premium Botox’ is not a product specification. Keep a copy of your treatment record and the clinic's aftercare contact before leaving Seoul.
Questions to take to the clinic
- What change are you aiming for, and why is this material appropriate for that area?
- How many vials or mL of original product, what dilution, and how many sessions are planned?
- When should I assess the result before considering more treatment?
- How would you manage nodules, an unwanted result or a vascular complication?
- Can the necessary reviews fit my trip and follow-up at home?
Common questions
Can Sculptra or Radiesse be dissolved like HA filler?
Neither has the same hyaluronidase-dissolving option as HA filler. Correction can be difficult and needs assessment by an experienced clinician.
Is Radiesse immediate while Sculptra is gradual?
That is a useful starting distinction: Radiesse can provide immediate structural volume, while Sculptra's intended response develops gradually. Radiesse dilution and placement change the treatment goal; early swelling is not a final result.
Which lasts longer?
Do not compare headline durations without matching the indication, course and follow-up endpoint. This guide does not establish a head-to-head longevity winner.

This is sourced editorial research, not a hands-on treatment review or an independent clinical trial. Device specifications and manufacturer claims are distinguished from human study findings. Study size, protocol and comparison groups limit what can be concluded. The practical trade-offs labelled as our editorial take are interpretations, not proven superiority. Medical suitability and travel clearance require the treating clinician's assessment.
